ISS Blog Hop – Handmade for the Holidays

I always have to fight the urge to make things harder for myself when I’m making cards. I always think I need to do complicated techniques to make cards that I love.

But I often don’t have the time or the energy to make an intricate card. Luckily, there’s stamps and patterned paper that lead to beautiful cards with minimal effort.

This card is as easy and as good as my favorite Christmas treat: fudge! Try this recipe! It’s simple and the semisweet layer helps keeping it from being too sweet (though it still satisfies the biggest sweet tooths).

Christmas Snowflake Fudge

  • 8 oz pkg semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 2 tbsp shortening
  • 1 cup pecans, chopped (optional)
  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk
  • 12 oz pkg milk chocolate chips
  • Red sprinkles

Melt semi-sweet chips and shortening. Add nuts and spread in the bottom of a buttered 8×8 pan. Cool. Combine sweetened condensed milk and milk chocolate chips in a medium saucepan over low heat, stirring frequently until chips are melted and creamy. Pour over first layer, spreading to cover. Sprinkle with sprinkles and press gently. Cover and chill.

Make sure you check out what my mom made! I bet she shared a great recipe, too! She taught me the fudge recipe, after all.

Have a Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and happy crafting!

  1. That card is so pretty!! I agree. Simple is often a better way to go – and that paper does all the heavy lifting.

And… your fudge recipe! That’s the best!! Let’s make that when I go see you for Christmas!
