ICS Blog Hop – Giftables

Here’s another project for the Inspire Create Share Blog Hop! This month we want to create gifts, and I decided to make something you can put gifts in.

This box is great for easy gift wrapping and cute storage. I used Cheryl Hamilton’s instructions for making this box. It is designed to be sturdy and last a long time. I also found it easy to make and fun to decorate.

This was another chance to use one of my favorite DSP suites: Regal Winter, and to play around with some other product, including the Take a Bow die set! I was very intimidated at first but I’ve always wanted to know how those bows are constructed, and I love that I can match my bow to my project.

I wanted to help the silver and gold tie in to the design, so instead of just using the patterned paper to make the bow, I also used gold/silver foil sheets and other papers. The foil were a little tricky. They’re thicker than DSP, so they don’t want to stay bent. I glued them together and then put two clips on to help it stay for several minutes while it could dry.

I used vellum for the blackberry bliss bow, which I think looks gorgeous. However, it doesn’t hold its own against the other papers, and it made the bow look a bit lopsided, so I ended up adding more DSP. I really like the way the vellum looks, but it might be better as its own bow.

I’m really excited to see what the other creators have made! Please check out their other projects here. Happy gifting and happy crafting!
