Happy October! I wanted to use this super fun suite before Halloween and I’m glad I took the time to play around with it. I think it’s really cute, especially the patterned paper set. I wouldn’t have thought to use these colors together but I think they’re perfect for Halloween.

I learned a few things while making this card. One was what happens when you heat white embossing powder for too long. I made the mistake of stamping the Halloween line and embossing it before stamping the Happy line, and the Halloween line got overheated and faded while I embossed the Happy line. I thought maybe it would be a cool look, but by the end I wanted to change it.

So I tried using the Pearlized Enamel Effects to go over the letters, but freehanding it was a bad idea, so I wiped it off (resulting in the smudge) and tried again. I ended up using a take your pick tool to pick up small amounts of the pearlized effect and put it over the words. It turned out… fine? I probably should’ve redone the sentiment on a different piece of paper but I really wanted it to be on the base of the card, because I think it looks really great when stamping on the base actually works out.

Happy Halloween and happy crafting!
